WORCESTER CHAMBER’S STATEMENT ON VERDICT IN DEREK CHAUVIN TRIAL

Yesterday’s verdict in the trial of Derek Chauvin regarding the horrific murder of George Floyd provides a measure of justice for Floyd’s family and reinforces the concept that all are held equal and accountable under the law.

For many Black and Brown Americans who have been the victims of systemic racism and violence, equal treatment in our legal system has been an elusive reality for far too long. It is our hope that yesterday’s verdict for justice will be a springboard which will cause good people to come together, both locally and nationally, to build a system where all of our citizens are valued, protected, and have equal opportunities.
