Senate Passes Extension of Application Deadline for PPP Small-business Loans
DEADLINE TO APPLY MOVED TO AUG. 8, 2020
Last night the U.S. Senate cleared legislation to extend the deadline for businesses to apply for coronavirus aid under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which was set to expire on June 30. Under the bill passed by the Senate by unanimous consent, the deadline for applying for PPP loans — which go to businesses with fewer than 500 employees — has been extended to Aug. 8, 2020 .
There is approximately $130 billion in unspent money under the Paycheck Protection Program. The House of Representatives is expected to pass the measure after which it will go to the president’s desk for his signature.

Grants Still Available for Small Businesses in Central Mass
APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED
The Central Massachusetts Regional Planning Commission has a grant assistance program for small businesses in Central Mass. who have been financially impacted by their closure as a result of the pandemic. Funded by the Mass. Office of Attorney General Maura Healey, through the Small Business Relief Partnership Grant Program , the commission has $45,000 in grant assistance available.
For this grant, a “small business” means any for-profit business or non-profit organization with a physical place of business in one of the forty communities in their service area with twenty or fewer employees prior to the governor’s state of emergency declaration (on or about 3/10/2020). All applicants must demonstrate a direct or indirect financial hardship resulting from COVID-19.
